iCMG to offer project,consulting services

By Rukmini Priyadarshini, BANGALORE, Dec. 19

THE Internet Component Management Group will offer project and consultancy services to corporate clients, as part of its move towards normalised service architecture.

According to Mr Sunil Dutt Jha, President and CEO, iCMG India, the company has projects on hand and plans to double its team of 60 to ``build scalable, robust distributed enterprise applications''.

The India Development Centre, which was a cost centre until now, will move towards bringing in revenues, Mr Jha said.

It is looking at large enterprises - over 10,000 employees - across distributed and heterogeneous systems as potential clients. iCMG's focus is on Web service-oriented architecture, according to Mr Jha. ``We are trying to provide solutions to those companies with legacy systems trying to move towards Web- based applications,'' he said.

The company is also working on CIDL, a compiler which enables clients to develop the software components themselves.

Mr Jha said that iCMG is positioned to look at enterprise application integration solutions. ``We are now talking of using software integrated circuits. For the India market, we developed the Component Education Server which offers component-based development training online for our corporate clients.'' A Corba course might have cost a client $1,000 a day is available online for a licence of $1,000 a month. ``Corporates can get as many of their employees in the course as they want,'' Mr Jha said.

Between enterprises with legacy systems and a single interface with all partners/vendors, lies iCMG's value offering.

This comprises normalised service architecture, an integration broker and the middleware, which is an application layer. ``The B2B integration will be single and need no rework, regardless of the operating systems, database servers and ERP models adopted in the enterprise or the vendor/customer being dealt with.'' Based in Virginia, US, and headed by Dr Thomas J. Mowbray, iCMG makes standards-based component/object-oriented, distributed computing and advocates the evolution of frameworks and re-usable software components.
