ANGALORE: Internet Component
Management Group (iCMG) has released K2 Component Server v1.0 and
thus become first commercial vendor in the world to implement CORBA
Component Model (CORBA 3.0 specification from OMG) with special
thrust on robust, scalability, reliability and enhanced QoS in the
area of Middleware Transaction & Enterprise Application
Integration (EAI).
K2 Component Server provides first generation
of CCM Server to build highly scalable and distributed applications
and K2 CCM Containers will provide an ideal run-time environment for
imbuing quality of service (QoS) capabilities into CCM components.
Throughout 1999, there were only two server-side, transaction
processing-oriented component models: the MTS/COM+ model and Sun's
EJB model. Though CCM was adopted in 1999, it took nearly 18 months
before first implementation of CCM has come to market. CCM
concentrates on issues that must be addressed to provide a complete
Server side middle ware component model. It supports standard EJB
components, and also components developed in C, C++, Ada, Smalltalk,
or even Cobol.
K2 is the Single enterprise component
infrastructure that enables inter-working among EJB components with
CORBA components and vice-versa.
The K2 Component Server gives
developers the ability to quickly build, deploy and manage
web-enabled enterprise scale e-commerce applications while
leveraging the industrial strength of CORBA.
