An ethical hacker, Mr. Tom Cervenka, Internet Security Expert at iCMG Inc., USA, will be in Bangalore on Tuesday, to demonstrate and share his experiences and the real truth behind security issues confronting portals.

Mr. Cervenka, who has now set his eyes on testing the safety of the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) applications, will make a presentation on Hacking Portals and Web Sites-Prevention and Damage Control.

Mr. Cervenka, who has broken into Ebay, Hotmail, Yahoo, Lycos, Eudora and Excite to reveal security holes in these portals, belongs to the benign and helpful section of Hackers Inc., which also boasts of Grey and Black members, all of whom give the denizens of the wired world sleepless nights.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, iCMG President and CEO, Sunil Dutt Jha, said while the ilk of Mr. Cervenka are hailed for their act because they are ethical and done to help cyber community to evolve much more resilient, foolproof systems, the Greys and Blacks are not so.

The grey hacks after successfully breaching the security of a site, call the concerned person that their portal or site has been hacked sounding a warning note to them. The blacks, on the other hand, said Mr. Jha, are dreadful ones. Who hack and destroy your system leaving you red in the face and facing the music of your valued customers.

The Tuesday seminar to be held at hotel West End has been organised to prepare the people in India on hacking and the related problems of tomorrow, he said.
