leader in infrastructure software today announced an ISV partnership
with Mi4e
which develops state-of-the-art mobile messaging and data
delivery platforms. This partnership will enable Mi4e to use
K2 Component Server as a strategic component of its core mobility
infrastructure software platform.
Mi4e
required a platform for development in C/C++ with the ability
use Java J2EE, JSP, Java beans, and EJB for administrative
and GUI O&M components as well to be able to prototype
components in Java and then move them to optimized C/C++ code.
"What we are seeking
with CORBA 3.0 and the CCM is an industry standard component
architecture where these features are part of our core mobility
infrastructure software platform", said James Ewing,
Founder and CTO for Mi4e. "More important is the ability
for us to engineer software using a component architecture
in high performance C and C++ environment. The K2 product
met all of these requirements and then some", he added.

K2 Component Server is a
server-side infrastructure to develop and deploy CORBA Components.
It is based on OMG's CORBA Component model (CCM) that includes
a Component Model, Container Model, Packaging and Deployment.
It also supports inter-working with EJB along with development
and deployment capability of Web Services (UDDI,WSDL,SOAP).
