| Idea behind the Workshop: |
When the motor car was first invented, people called it a ‘horseless carriage’.
Few had the imagination to see beyond what it replaced and create new lifestyles and business models based on the speed,
convenience and independence this new invention would make possible.

Today, the same myopia is holding back the innovation that cloud computing represents. While the majority watches and waits, early
adopters are forging ahead, conquering new markets, creating new business opportunities and winning competitive advantage —
because they have the vision to see what is possible with this more agile, flexible and cost-effective model of enterprise
computing.

True, there are risks associated with cloud computing. It’s important to understand and manage the pitfalls that lie in wait for
those unprepared. But perhaps the greatest risk is that of missing the opportunity for business transformation and advancement
that is possible for those who are ready to harness the full potential of cloud computing in the enterprise.

| Emerging trends in Cloud Computing in Bangalore - source Gartner (March 2011) |
| Bangalore has the perfect ecosystem, consisting of technology providers, early adopters, system integrators (SIs), hosting providers, a huge industrial base and a huge tech-savvy population. There is a lot of discussion and curiosity about the cloud's capabilities; however, Indian companies are waiting to see successful implementations before adopting cloud-based offerings in a major way. |
 |
Indian private-sector, government/public-sector and defense organizations are at an early stage of looking at private cloud as an option |
 |
Traditional Indian companies are still playing a wait and watch game before jumping and adopting a cloud-based model |

A few Indian IT service providers have implemented cloud computing solutions; most of these solutions are internal private cloud implementations |

In this program, you’ll be inspired by the expertise, enthusiasm and insight of Jason Bloomberg, the globally renowned
analyst and business strategist who first identified the significance of cloud computing in the late 1990s, long before the
concept was popularized. You’ll learn the secrets of cloud computing success, gleaned from more than a decade of working with
leading proponents and early adopters of the model.

With its combination of detailed case studies and strategic management philosophy, this program will satisfy both technically
astute and business oriented delegates. You’ll be delighted and inspired by a fresh outlook and understanding that you’ll be eager

| Cloud adoption in India - source Gartner (March 2011) |
| Though Bangalore is a key technology hub in India, cloud computing adoption is spotty at best. Most of this adoption is seen in the form of private cloud implementations, mainly by technology service providers. While most end users and service providers are cautious about implementing cloud computing, they should nevertheless start projects to implement IaaS in a development/test environment. SaaS solutions for e-mail, collaboration, expense management and sales force automation have been around for many years, and enterprises should examine their suitability in their own environments. However, organizations (end user and service providers) must be mindful of the change associated with these implementations (e.g., standardization of infrastructure, automation, organizational roles and responsibilities, financial management and maturity of operational processes). This must be addressed when implementing a cloud computing strategy. |
