| Jon Kern |
| Agile Manifesto Co-author,
Co-founder TogetherSoft |
|
Outspoken software engineering evangelist, Agile Manifesto (http://AgileManifesto.org) co-author, speaker, and author; Jon's experience is wide-ranging across varied problem domains and technology platforms. From jet engine R&D (he's an aerospace engineer, after all) to real-time flight simulator design and development, from TogetherSoft's and OptimalJ's commercial modeling tools, to building IBM's Manufacturing Execution System software -- Jon has seen and done a lot in his 20 years. He has led numerous teams, including teams in Russia, his own consulting firm, and has consulted/mentored hundreds others.
Peter Coad recruited Jon in Sep. '99, to help launch TogetherSoft. Jon was a driving force behind the success of the company and its products prior to its 2003 sale to Borland. He enjoyed the 2 years he spent commuting to St. Petersburg, Russia, to lead the development teams. Jon's work on lightweight development methodologies (which began as a form of self-defense against MIL-STD-2167 and -498 during his DoD consulting days). He also co-authored "Java Design" with his longtime mentor, Peter Coad, and worked on a few other books. Jon's a nut when it comes to modeling effectively (focused on the business), building and architecting consistently, and doing it in an agile manner to deliver results. If a team ignores these best practices, it invites the peril of building up Technical Debt, as he likes to refer to it. Jon is a speaker that engages the audience and has fun doing it.

| Manish Gupta |
| CIO Healthcare Global |
Finance Controller in large manufacturing group, implemented SAP there, moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers US as eBusiness consultant, mostly Pharma clients, then on to Ariba in San Francisco as product manager, also involved in ramping up Ariba’s offshore unit in Bangalore, finally a stint with Kaiser Hospitals in Oregon.
Short stint in Bangalore had triggered me to return to India. Returned in 2003, managed GLOBE at Nestle India, followed by CIO stint at Whirlpool. GLOBE, I'd say, is unquestionably the most prestigious business technology roll-out among the Fortune 100 companies. While GLOBE at Nestle is more inside-looking, the Customer Service B2B / B2C rollout at Whirlpool was a great outward-looking business IT initiative.
Was mentored by a healthcare expert, got excited about linkages between healthcare, technology & innovation...moved to Fortis as CIO. After a versatile stint, I decided to have a broader agenda in healthcare. While continuing as CIO to select healthcare groups, I have now ventured into healthcare consulting and specialty software firm.
Elsewhere, I interact both with diverse stakeholders in healthcare, both India and overseas, as well as with CIOs in non-healthcare domains. I
am equally passionate about creative side of life, karaoke music, social networking & travelling unplugged!
BTech (IIT Delhi) MBA Finance.
