Title:
How to Survive in the Jungle of Enterprise
Architecture
Frameworks: Creating or Choosing an Enterprise
Architecture Framework
Abstract:
This keynote presentation
will give the audience a short overview
about the latest trends & developments
in Enterprise Architecture then zooming
in to one of the key components of the
Enterprise Architecture practice, the
adoption of an Enterprise Architecture
framework.
With the growing importance of Enterprise
Architecture at the same time, the discussion
started how to create or choose the right
Enterprise Architecture Framework &
Tools for your organization in the jungle
of the existing ones.
Several times in my Enterprise Architecture
(EA) practice, people asked me which framework
shall I adopt or what are the benefits
of the Zachman framework over TOGAF, etc.
Others asked me to help them to define
their own corporate EA framework.
Before answering these types of questions,
it is important to know what the differences
and commonalities are of these frameworks
and standards. During the presentation
the audience will get an overview of the
history of most common used Enterprise
Architecture frameworks as well as their
characteristics, purpose, scope and structure
to help them in identifying the EA framework
that fits best to their needs.
For the in-depth details of the mentioned
Enterprise Architecture Frameworks a reference
to the book "How to Survive in the
Jungle of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks:
Creating or Choosing an Enterprise Architecture
Framework" as well as the book "Enterprise
Architecture Good Practices Guide: How
to manage the Enterprise Architecture
Practice", will be made.

Title:
Architecture Principles & the stretch
of covering the four
layers of architecture (business, information,
technical,
application)
Abstract:
In the world of Enterprise
Architecture, we have constantly to stretch
from the deep technical layers to the
business view. As such and depending on
the background of the team, some aspects
are better addressed than others. Where
to position the team to have the maximum
impact? How to handle this multiple facets
in the interaction with the rest of the
enterprise.
Based on the practical experience within
Schlumberger, this presentation will address
the different aspects and will provide
a framework for a global consistency of
the Enterprise Architecture group. We
will address the four layers of architecture
(business architecture, information architecture,
application architecture, technical architecture)
and how they seat on top of the Architecture
Principles and Standards. Within this
frame, we will cover some key topics such
as BPM, SOA and Master Data

Title:
Architecting enterprise BPM systems for
optimal agility
Abstract:
Experience shows that
business wants separate requests for change
to be implemented quickly. These changes
are typically small from the point of
view of the business, but unpredictable
from the point of view of the IT. To be
able to handle easily such a flow of requests
for change, a BPM system has to be properly
architected so that it can address all
concerns, from those of traditional enterprise
architecture right through to those of
execution.
The aim of this article is to share my
experience with a practical architectural
framework for the improvement of complex
BPM systems. This framework provides recommendations
on how to implement agile (i.e. easy-to-evolve)
enterprise BPM systems.

Title: 7
Habits for an Effective Enterprise Architect
Abstract:
Designing
an architecture blueprint for an enterprise
comprising of multiple diverse businesses
requires a different level of skills and
habits on the part of the Enterprise Architect
than devising solution architecture for
a point solution.
The speaker has devised a set of 7 habits
which an Enterprise Architect should follow
to become effective. Many of the seven habits
highlights soft skills which the enterprise
architect needs to consciously develop to
be effective and successful. As the speaker
often says -"You become an Enterprise
Architect by virtue of your technical prowess
but you succeed by putting your soft skills
to use."

Title:
Applying innovation to the software development
lifecycle.
Abstract:
Software development
in the context of large teams working
in multiple geographies and across multiple
stakeholders needs a new way of how we
monitor and manage them. Changing architectures,
design tools and user expectations throw
up a lot of areas where we can apply technology
and turn the dial on making life better
for the practitioners and consumers. This
presentation is an attempt to look at
innovations that can be applied to the
software development and delivery lifecycle
to address the challenges in this area.

Business
Innovation & Risk Avoidance (Quarter
on Quarter)

is going to discuss on the evolution &
adoption of Architecture within Enterprises
for Innovation and Risk Avoidance. How
do organizations are adopting Architecture
principles (formal / informal ways) to
manage change & complexity.s
As IT is becoming core to all the other
natural science, what are the advancements
needed?
What are various architecture artifacts,
how do we model (represent & specify)
them and the challenges of establishing
linkages across multiple stakeholders?.
There is also a serious need to establish
parameters for measuring effectiveness
of architecture. What are those parameters?

Title:
Actionable Architecture
Winning
in a Flat World
Abstract:
During
the past two to three years, the concept of
enterprise architecture and its implications
on the way we are organizing our business and
operations have gained a major increase in awareness.
Like never before, CIOs are faced with justifying
to a business group, such as a board of directors,
how technology supports business goals, both
now and in the future.
Mainstream
Fortune 1000 businesses and federal agencies
have adopted enterprise architecture as a way
to incorporate their best practices and experiences
into decisions about technology investments,
compliance and emerging technologies, such as
Web services, service-oriented architectures
(SOAs) and business process management.
This
presentation explores the basic ideas of enterprise
architecture, the areas where it adds value
to the decision making process in today's organizations
and discusses the evolution towards actionable
architectures - a key to winning in the flat
world!
