What is the impact on
TOGAF 9 certification? |
|
The TOGAF 9 People Certification program has been designed to accommodate maintenance updates to the TOGAF 9 specification, such as TOGAF 9.1.
- The certification remains as TOGAF 9 Foundation and TOGAF 9 Certified. Individuals who are currently certified in the TOGAF 9 People Certification program remain certified.
- The conformance requirements for TOGAF 9 certification have been updated and will become mandatory on June 1 2012. The revised set of conformance requirements are available as Document X111 opengroup.org/bookstore. A separate document with a changes summary is available as Document X112 opengroup.org/bookstore.
- In the period between December 1st 2011 and June 1st 2012 candidates can study either to the original conformance requirements or the revised conformance requirements, and the examinations have been designed to accommodate both up to June 2013 (this extended period allows for those candidates with exam vouchers who can take up to 12 months to take their examinations).
- The reference text provided with the Open Book examinations will remain as TOGAF 9 until June 1 2012 and will then switch to TOGAF 9.1 on that date.
- Accredited TOGAF 9 Training Courses have until June 1 2012 to be updated to teach the revised conformance requirements for TOGAF 9.1.
- From June 2013 the examinations will include new topic material from TOGAF 9.1.

Does this course lead to TOGAF 9 Certification? |
|
Certification in TOGAF 9 is by examination only. This course provides the knowledge you need to be able to take the examinations and your instructor will help you to be suitably prepared to pass the exams. |

Does iCMG administer the examinations or students? |
|
No – exams are run by a separate organisation on behalf of the Open Group. This organisation is called Prometric. There are Prometric centres in every major city in the world. The examination process and booking system is available in the Certification section of the Open Group Web site. |

Can I attend this course if I am TOGAF 8 Certified? |
|
This course would certainly be suitable for people who are already TOGAF 8 Certified. Some knowledge will be revised, the differences between TOGAF 8 and TOGAF 9 will become clear and candidates will be well prepared to take the examinations for TOGAF 9, which are slightly different for TOGAF 8 Certified people |

What are the main differences between TOGAF 8 and TOGAF 9? |
|
TOGAF 9 is an evolution from TOGAF 8. Some of the processes in the method have been simplified and rationalised, the overall structure of the method has remained the same, and some additional features have been added around creating an architecture capability for the organisation, more depth has been added to the TOGAF Content including a Content Metamodel, and there is additional information relating TOGAF with Security Architecture and SOA. |

How soon after completing the course should I take the exam? |

It is recommended that there is at least a 3 weeks gap between taking the course and sitting the exams. There is a lot of information to take on board. Your instructor will provide additional hints for taking the examinations and will also suggest areas of revision and additional reading to be undertaken between completing the course and sitting the exam, in order to give the candidates the best chance of passing the examinations. |

What is the validity of TOGAF 9 Certification? |
|
TOGAF 9 Certification does not expire, so there are no re-certification or renewal requirements. There is no expiry date on a TOGAF 9 Certificate. |
